Portable Loading Dock Solution for Home Depot

Home Depot is the well-known home improvement store with locations in the US, Canada, and Mexico. They also sell seasonal flowers and potted plants. Their location in Kamloops, British Columbia, needed portable loading/unloading facilities for their nursery department, which was using a portion of their parking lot.

The Challenge

The Home Depot in Kamloops set up its garden center in a corner of their parking lot. They needed a portable loading dock for product deliveries but were limited by Home Depot’s strict safety protocols. While they mainly used forklifts for unloading, they also had significant pedestrian traffic, with staff unloading some products by hand. They wanted a solution that was safe for both forklifts and pedestrians, and they preferred the flexibility to rent with the option to purchase.

The Solution

Nation Ramps worked with Home Depot’s safety and logistics departments to customize our standard PLD20K portable loading dock. This 20,000 lbs (GVW) capacity ramp with a standalone platform was modified to include 42″ pedestrian handrails and a side access ladder. Home Depot’s management was pleased with the safety features and the ramp’s ability to meet their unloading needs.
